Why use a Home Watch company?
For the peace of mind! Home Watch companies look for evidence of water leaks, vandalism and pests and keep minor issues from becoming larger problems while you are away. In the event that a needed repair is uncovered, they can notify you and take care of it in your absence. Look for a professional, licensed, insured and bonded Home Watch company only!
NOVEMBER 2017
Coming back to Florida? Here are some tips to get you organized:
1) WINTERIZE YOUR NORTHERN HOME
Make sure your filters have been changed and that your furnace is in good working order. Be sure to lower your hot water settings and to set your thermostat (preferably a programmable one) to a proper temperature.
2) MAKE A RUN TO THE POST OFFICE
Stop your mail up north and forward it to your vacation home.
3) IMPORTANT PHONE NUMBERS
In your phone or in a binder, keep all phone numbers for your doctors, dentists, pharmacy, accountants, and lawyers. In addition, it’s good to have phone numbers for all vendors, such as your handyman, landscaper and your snow plow help.
4) LEAVE THE LIGHTS ON!
Consider putting your lights on timers in the evenings to make it look like someone’s home.
5) BRING ALL MEDICAL PAPERWORK & PRESCRIPTIONS
Bring all health insurance documentation and prescriptions with you, along with all of your doctors’/dentists’ names and phone numbers.
6) BANKING, ID & TAX DOCUMENTS
Other items to be sure to bring with you: passports, bank cards, checkbooks and any other banking information that you might need. Remember that tax season is also right around the corner. Bring all pertinent documents to avoid scrambling in the final hours!
7) IDIOT PROOF YOUR PACKING LIST
Always leave a packing list in your suitcase that include all belongings that you need (chargers, toiletries, medical items and travel documents) each time that you travel.
8) CREATE AN ITINERARY
Write down flight numbers and times, rental car and hotel info, and phone numbers of travel agents.
